Palatine hospitality for over three decades
The “Winzerstuben Weick” in Kallstadt is a well-established institution in the Palatinate and has been successfully run by the Weick family in collaboration with the Kallstadt winemakers' cooperative for 33 years. In April 2023, the business was handed over to the next generation.

The new management
Christian and Laura Schmitz aim to build on the success of recent years while also exploring new directions. Christian is responsible for purchasing, while Laura manages the service. Together, they oversee the culinary offerings. This division of responsibilities is supported by a reliable and service-oriented team.
The winemaker
Christian is a trained winemaker and viticulture expert. After completing his apprenticeship at Schloss Vollrads in the Rheingau, he joined the renowned Dr. Heger winery in Ihringen. He then spent several years exploring the international wine world, gaining experience not only in viticulture but also in the many facets of gastronomy. Due to his strong connection to the Palatinate, he returned home in 2018.
Christian's passion is hunting in the Palatinate Forest, which Laura also enjoys. As the leaseholder of two hunting grounds, hunting not only plays an important role in Christian's personal life, but also shapes the atmosphere in the wine taverns.
The lawyer
Laura grew up in the Winzerstuben and gained experience in her parents' business from an early age. Interacting with guests was just as much a part of her daily life as working in service. Although she always enjoyed this work, she initially chose a different path and pursued law. She studied law in Bayreuth and, like Christian, returned to the Palatinate in 2018 after successfully completing her degree. She then worked for several years as a lawyer in a law firm.
Then, together with Christian, she decided to take over the Winzerstuben and continue her parents' legacy.
